To tree or not to tree

As usual this time of year, time flies by with not many days left until Christmas.  How are you decorating your place for Christmas?  As our boys are 6 and 3, our decorations tend to be handmade, haphazard, colourful and very glittery…and will be for however long they’re happy to make decorations!

I’m almost considering not getting a real Christmas tree, as we’re off to explore the North island of New Zealand for half of December, back just in time for Santa.  Instead I’m thinking about branches this year.  Nice and rustic..and done right, they look so pretty.

I’m also liking the idea of having two “branch” trees – one to put pressies under and the other to hang little advent gifts off.  Although given there are 3 days till December, I had best get a move on…

And if the branches look a little sparse, there’s always the option of adding lots of fairy lights around the place…

Here are some beautiful ideas below along the lines of what I’m thinking.  What do you think – tree, or branch?

  3. I am sure however you do it, it will look great. And I am eagerly awaiting photos. Ours is the ‘real tree’ as there is something about that pine smell. We use it for logs in the winter and it gives a lovely pine smell then too! Jennifer. x
